TARIL Invests $13.3M in UK Transformer Expansion
Transformers and Rectifiers (India) Ltd (TARIL) has approved a $13.3 million (£10 million) investment in its UK subsidiary, Maxwell Grid Transformers, to expand transformer sales and servicing across the UK and Europe.
Incorporated in September 2026, the subsidiary is expected to begin operations by year-end. TARIL owns 51% and anticipates revenue in the next financial year.
Local transformer assembly may follow, but a UK factory would depend on regional orders reaching 2,000–5,000 MVA annually.
“We would take that decision on demand, not on expectation,” said Satyen Mamtora, TARIL’s Managing Director and CEO.
The company is targeting utilities, transmission operators, renewable energy developers, data centres and industrial customers. TARIL reports manufacturing capacity exceeding 75,000 MVA in India, with expansions planned at Changodar and Moraiya.
Its initial focus will be sales and customer support.
The approved investment may be deployed in stages. TARIL has not committed to constructing a UK manufacturing facility.
