Reinhausen to Build OLTC Facility in Saudi Arabia
Reinhausen GmbH plans to establish an on-load tap-changer (OLTC) manufacturing facility in Saudi Arabia, with production scheduled to begin in early 2027. The company signed a partnership agreement with Saudi consultancy AKID Advisory on 1 September at the Global Investment Summit in Paris.
Reinhausen plans to invest approximately $11,6 million (€10 million) in the facility by 2030. The site will be located in Ash Sharqiyah Province and will comprise 6,000–7,000 square meters, including around 4,000 square meters for production and operations. Reinhausen said the facility is designed to produce 500 or more units annually for the Saudi and wider GCC markets.
The facility will manufacture vacuum on-load tap-changers and the ETOS® operating system for the automation and digitalization of power transformers. Assembly, testing, warehousing, logistics, service and sales will also be carried out at the site.
“Saudi Arabia is a growth market for us and a key country for the transformation of the energy infrastructure. Through local manufacturing, we are combining our world-leading technology with local capabilities and supporting the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.”
— Wilfried Breuer, Managing Director and Spokesperson for the Executive Management of Reinhausen GmbH
Reinhausen established its Saudi subsidiary, Reinhausen Saudi Arabia Energy Company, in 2025. Industrial licensing and preparations for manufacturing are expected to continue ahead of the planned 2027 start.
