PLP Expands Substation Portfolio with Brazil Acquisition
Preformed Line Products (PLP) has acquired Delta Star Conetores Elétricos Ltda., a Brazil-based manufacturer of high-voltage (HV) and extra-high-voltage (EHV) substation connectors, in a move aimed at expanding its global substation hardware portfolio.
The company stated that the acquisition strengthens its engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain capabilities for substation infrastructure, particularly in the Americas region, and supports its broader strategy to expand its presence in the global power transmission and distribution market.
Delta Star, headquartered in Salto, Brazil, designs and manufactures connector systems used in substation applications, serving utilities and equipment manufacturers across the region.
The transaction follows a series of recent acquisitions by PLP in Europe and Latin America, including substation-related businesses in Austria and Mexico, as the company continues to build a more integrated global platform for grid infrastructure components.
According to PLP, the acquisition is intended to enhance its ability to support utilities and EPC contractors facing rising demand for grid expansion, modernization, and reinforcement projects.
The company highlighted that global power systems are experiencing increased investment in transmission infrastructure, driven by electrification trends, renewable integration, and rising electricity demand, all of which require more advanced substation equipment and components.
PLP did not disclose financial terms of the transaction.
The deal reinforces the company’s long-term strategy of expanding its global substation hardware platform, positioning it to better serve utility customers as electricity networks continue to evolve.
