Mission Critical Group Opens Pennsylvania Switchgear Manufacturing Facility
Mission Critical Group (MCG) has opened a new 266,000-square-foot switchgear manufacturing facility in Harleysville, Pennsylvania, expanding its production capacity for low-voltage electrical equipment.
The facility is located approximately 7.5 miles from the company’s existing North Wales site. The two sites will coordinate switchgear production and metal fabrication, according to the company. Initial operations began in May, with full production expected in September.
The expansion is expected to create around 300 jobs.
The development comes amid increased demand for electrical infrastructure equipment, particularly for data centre and AI-related projects. Switchgear has become a constrained component in power distribution systems, with longer lead times reported across the sector.
Alongside the facility opening, Mission Critical Group has consolidated seven previously acquired businesses under a single brand. The companies include Mission Critical Facilities International, JTS, Point Eight Power, SST, DVM Power + Control, Leman Engineering and Consulting, and TxLa Systems.
The consolidation brings the businesses under a unified structure covering electrical equipment manufacturing, engineering services, and lifecycle support.
Jeff Drees, chief executive of Mission Critical Group, said the expansion supports the company’s long-term outlook, stating it is intended to meet “growing demand for critical power infrastructure well into the future.”
Matt Coffel, chief commercial and innovation officer at Mission Critical Group, said the integration is aimed at operational alignment, stating it will “synchronise engineering, manufacturing, innovation, and service to drive the future of critical infrastructure.”
The company said the changes are intended to streamline operations as it expands its manufacturing footprint in the United States.
