Caverion to build 70 MW substation for Nebius data center
Caverion Finland has signed a $16.8 million (€15 million) contract with Nebius to design and deliver a 70 MW substation for the AI cloud company’s new data center in Mäntsälä, Finland. Completion is scheduled for autumn 2027.
The substation will connect Nebius’s second Mäntsälä data center building to the electricity grid. The new 70 MW facility will be located alongside the company’s existing 75 MW site.
Kari Aalto, head of Industrial Projects and Infrastructure at Caverion Finland, said, “We will deliver the substation in Mäntsälä on an exceptionally fast schedule, as is typical for data center construction: the substation will be completed in autumn 2027.”
Caverion said the project will employ approximately 80 energy-sector professionals and electricians. The company has delivered about 30 new substations and refurbished around 50 in Finland, supporting growing demand for data center power infrastructure.
