Sarajevo opens new 110 kV transformer substation
Elektroprijenos BiH has opened the $6.0 million (BAM 10.5 million) Sarajevo 12 substation on the city’s 110 kV network. The facility includes two 40 MVA power transformers to strengthen electricity supply, relieve neighboring substations and accommodate demand growth in Novo Sarajevo.
The substation connects to the 110 kV network through Sarajevo 7 and Sarajevo 13 and incorporates modern protection and control systems alongside monitoring systems.
Miro Džakula, general manager of Elektroprijenos BiH, said growing electricity consumption and urban development drove the project.
“Through the planning and realization of this project, a temporary solution has been replaced by a permanent and contemporary power facility,” Džakula said.
The project provides additional capacity for new connections and future development in Novo Sarajevo and Grbavica, previously supplied through neighboring substations.
