Hitachi Energy Ships Four 425 MVA Transformers via Motril
Spain – Hitachi Energy has loaded four 425 MVA single-phase power transformers at the Port of Motril for maritime shipment to Baltimore, United States, marking its first transformer export through the southern Spanish port.
Manufactured at the company's Córdoba facility, the transformers travelled approximately 150 km by specialized road transport before loading aboard the JSI Alliance vessel MV Jumbo Maritime Vision, using two 400-tonne cranes.
EGODI Transportes Especiales handled road transportation, while ERHARDT Projects coordinated the operation and onward delivery in the United States. Local port operator Consignaciones y Estibas Motril (CE Motril) supported port logistics.
The shipment involved specialized heavy-equipment handling and transformer transport logistics across road and maritime operations.
Hitachi Energy reported that loading was completed on schedule without incidents. The four transformers represent the first shipment in a larger multi-unit program.
The Port Authority of Motril confirmed the export on October 14, establishing another shipping route for transformers manufactured in Córdoba.
