Kolektor Etra invests $16.4 million in Barajevo transformer plant
Kolektor Etra has opened a $16.4 million (€14 million production) hall at its Barajevo factory, expanding power transformer manufacturing capacity in Serbia.
The 3,100 sq m facility includes two ovens for drying transformer windings and active parts and a 70-tonne industrial crane. The investment follows a €7.5 million high-voltage laboratory opened in 2024, bringing investment in the site to €21.5 million.
Kolektor Etra Beograd manufactures power transformers rated up to 40 MVA and 110 kV for markets across Western and Northern Europe, including Sweden, the UK, Germany, Denmark, Austria, the Netherlands, Norway and France. The company is also entering the Swiss market.
Further expansion is planned through 2028, including a new coil winding facility that could increase annual production capacity beyond 200 power transformers.
Kolektor Etra also plans to add around 50 employees by 2030, bringing its Barajevo workforce to approximately 230.
