Trench Group to Acquire Composite Insulator Assets from Reinhausen Power Composites
Trench Group and Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen have signed an agreement under which Trench Group will acquire the composite insulator production assets of Reinhausen Power Composites (RPC).
The transaction covers all essential machinery, equipment, software, and intellectual property required for the engineering, design, and manufacturing of RPC’s full hollow-core composite insulator portfolio. Composite insulators are critical components in high-voltage transmission and distribution (T&D) systems, supporting the reliability and performance of power grids worldwide.
The transfer of assets is expected to begin in summer 2026. The acquired equipment will be relocated to Trench Germany in Bamberg, where it will expand existing production lines already capable of manufacturing composite insulators rated up to 800 kV.
According to Dr. Bahadir Basdere, CEO of Trench Group, the acquisition aims to address growing global demand and ongoing capacity constraints in the composite insulator market. By integrating RPC’s intellectual property, engineering expertise, and production assets, Trench Group seeks to strengthen its vertical integration while maintaining a balanced “make and buy” supply strategy.
The agreement was jointly signed by Dr. Bahadir Basdere and Dr. Nicolas Maier-Scheubeck, Chairman of the Board of Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
