SGB-SMIT and Trench Group Sign Long-Term Agreement for High-Voltage Bushings in US Grid Projects
SGB-SMIT Group and Trench Group have signed a long-term capacity agreement for the supply of high-voltage bushings for utility projects in the United States, the companies announced during CWIEME Berlin 2026.
The agreement covers projects at voltage levels of up to 765 kV and secures component supply from the HSP – Leading Grid Connections facility, part of Trench Group’s operations.
Headquartered in Regensburg, Germany, SGB-SMIT Group is an independent transformer manufacturer with production facilities across Europe, North America, and Asia. Trench Group provides high-voltage grid components, engineering services, and asset management solutions for transmission infrastructure projects worldwide.
According to the companies, the agreement is intended to support growing demand linked to modernization and expansion of the US power grid.
Klaus Merklein, Managing Director Sales of Trench Group, said the partnership reflects increasing demand for reliable high-voltage infrastructure components as utilities continue investing in grid transformation projects.
The agreement was signed by Matthias Gradl, Group VP Supply Chain Management at SGB-SMIT Group, and Klaus Merklein during the Berlin-based electrical manufacturing exhibition.
