Deugro Delivers Two Power Transformers to Scotland
Deugro and transport engineering specialist dteq have delivered two power transformers from Germany to a substation expansion project in Scotland, the companies announced October 12.
The transformers were collected from the manufacturing plant, transported to a roll-on/roll-off jetty and loaded onto a barge under dteq’s engineered securing arrangements. Following a three-day Rhine transit, they reached Rotterdam for transfer to a chartered coastal vessel.
After another three-day voyage, the units arrived at Edinburgh’s Port of Leith, where they were unloaded using tandem lifting operations.
For the final 74-kilometer journey, deugro deployed an 18-axle girder frame measuring over 64 meters. The transport route was surveyed in advance, with escort teams accompanying the convoy.
Both transformers arrived safely and on schedule and were installed using a single-direction jack-and-skid operation, completing the transportation and installation stages according to the project timeline.
