Delgaz Grid Completes $5.2M Vicov Substation Upgrade in Romania
Romania – Delgaz Grid, part of the E.ON Group, has reported the completion of a $5.2 million (€4.7 million; RON 25.48 million) upgrade to the 110/20 kV Vicov substation in Suceava County.
The project replaced high- and medium-voltage equipment and integrated the substation into a SCADA system for remote monitoring and control, reflecting the wider industry focus on digital monitoring of transformer assets.
Works also included modernising 17 km of the 110 kV Vicov–Rădăuți line and establishing new connections between the Vicov, Rădăuți and Egger substations.
According to Delgaz Grid, the investment is expected to improve electricity supply reliability and power quality for approximately 18,000 customers across 16 communities. It also supports electricity injection from 20 hydroelectric and solar power producers.
The project received approximately $2.4 million (€2.2 million) in EU REACT-EU funding, with Delgaz Grid contributing $2.8 million (€2.5 million).
The company also reports 16 additional EU-funded infrastructure projects covering smart meters, substations and electricity networks.
