Pure DC Installs 75 MVA Hitachi Transformer at LON01
Pure Data Centres Group (Pure DC) has installed the third and final power transformer at its 90 MW LON01 data centre campus in North London, bringing total substation capacity to 150 MVA.
The 75 MVA Hitachi transformer will supply buildings B1 and B2, supporting AI and cloud computing workloads. Energisation is planned for October 2026.
Restricted space around the operational substation prevented conventional crane use. A specially engineered 1,000-tonne-capacity gantry system enabled installation during a four-hour operation.
Manufactured in Colombia in March 2025, the transformer completed factory testing in June 2026 before shipment to the UK.
The 18-month programme involved MGE Group, logistics partners and specialist suppliers, requiring coordinated transport, road closures and local authority approvals.
The installation completes the campus's three-transformer configuration, with dedicated ductwork installed for the B2 connection, ahead of the planned energisation of the final unit.
