Virginia Transformer delivers 80 MVA GSU in California
Virginia Transformer has delivered a 48/80 MVA, 161/34.5 kV generator step-up transformer to an Apex Clean Energy solar facility in California.
The GSU transformer was manufactured at Virginia Transformer’s Rincon facility and delivered to the Apex Clean Energy solar facility. The company announced the delivery in October 2026 as part of its latest project updates.
The unit adds to Virginia Transformer’s supply of power transformers for renewable energy projects across the United States. The company said it has more than 50 years of experience engineering transformers for power applications.
The announcement did not identify the solar facility’s location within California or disclose its generation capacity.
Virginia Transformer also did not provide further technical specifications for the unit beyond its 48/80 MVA capacity and 161/34.5 kV voltage rating, or details on installation, commissioning or the expected energization date.
