LS Electric Surpasses $770 Million in Data Center Orders Amid AI Boom
LS Electric announced on December 23 that its global data center project orders for 2025 have exceeded $770 million (1 trillion Korean won), driven primarily by partnerships with North American AI big tech firms. The company’s focus on supplying customized power solutions for data centers has been credited with its record project wins.
In North America, LS Electric secured more than $61 million (80 billion KRW) in data center project orders this year, while domestic projects contributed $1.5 million (2 billion KRW). A $12 million (16 billion KRW) contract earlier this year with a North American AI firm was followed by additional data center projects, totaling nearly $23 million (30 billion KRW) in orders by the second half of the year.
The surge in demand reflects a broader trend as aging U.S. power grids require upgrades and the global data center market is projected to grow from $430 billion (≈635 trillion KRW) this year to $1.14 trillion (≈1,680 trillion KRW) by 2035. North America represents 37% of the global market, making it the largest regional hub for data center investment.
Cumulative orders for three major Korean power equipment companies—LS Electric, Hyosung Heavy Industries, and HD Hyundai Electric—reached $2.1 billion (2.735 trillion KRW) in the first three quarters of 2025, a 40.7% increase from the same period last year. Domestic cable companies LS Cable & System and Taihan Cable & Solution also reported record order backlogs, with expectations to surpass all-time high sales this year.
The results highlight how AI-driven demand and North American market expansion are reshaping the Korean power equipment and cable sector.
