Končar Plans Texas Factory as Part of $2.7 Billion Order Backlog

2 Jan 2026

Končar Group enters 2026 with a contracted order backlog of approximately USD 2.72 billion (€2.5 billion), alongside plans to invest in new production capacity and further operational development, according to statements by Gordan Kolak, President of the Management Board.

Speaking at a year-end media briefing, Kolak said the company expects newly contracted business to reach around USD 3.16 billion (€2.9 billion) by the end of 2026, with projected annual revenues exceeding USD 1.52 billion (€1.4 billion). Over the next three years, Končar plans capital investments exceeding USD 544 million (€500 million), including more than USD 152 million (€140 million) in 2026, primarily aimed at expanding manufacturing capacity.

Planned investments include the construction of new production facilities, among them a factory in Texas, United States, scheduled for completion by 2027. The project is expected to be developed in cooperation with Sanmina Corporation, following a recently signed agreement covering the joint development of a customized medium-voltage transformer. In parallel, Končar plans to increase its commercial focus on the Middle East, particularly Saudi Arabia, while continuing project activity in markets such as the United Kingdom, Portugal, Norway, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Kolak also referenced a recently signed contract between Končar Digital and Croatia’s Ministry of Defence (MORH), marking the group’s entry into the defence sector through the development of a counter-drone protection system. The project is expected to be implemented over the next two to three years.

Končar reported a workforce exceeding 6,000 employees in 2025. While digital solutions, cybersecurity, rail systems, and hydro power projects remain part of the group’s portfolio, transformer manufacturing, including distributionmedium-voltage, and special-purpose transformers, continues to represent its core business activity.
