LS Electric Secures $90 Million Contract to Supply Power Transformers for US Renewable Energy Site

In a significant development for the North American transformer market, South Korea's LS Electric Co. has clinched a contract worth approximately $90 million (120 billion won) to supply power equipment to a new renewable energy site in the United States. The deal underscores LS Electric's burgeoning presence in the U.S. energy sector.

LS Electric is set to deliver transformers worth 86.8 million to the renewable energy site, following a contract disclosure made on January 9 regarding a power supply system for the U.S. market. These transformers will play a crucial role in converting electricity generated at the site into high voltage, facilitating more efficient transmission of power.

This move marks LS Electric's maiden delivery of transformers worth tens of billions of won to the U.S. market. With over 75 percent of existing transformers in the U.S. aging over 25 years, there's a pressing demand for new equipment, particularly as the construction of renewable energy power plants is on the rise.

Additionally, LS Electric's affiliate, LS Energy Solutions, will supply about $22,5 million (30 billion won) worth of energy storage systems (ESS) and power equipment for the same project, further solidifying the company's foothold in the renewable energy market. With this combined supply, LS Electric has secured a substantial order value for the U.S. renewable energy site.

A company official expressed optimism about the venture, stating, "With this order, we plan to actively expand our presence in the high-voltage transformer market in the U.S." LS Electric's foray into the U.S. market marks a strategic move aimed at capitalizing on the growing demand for advanced power equipment amidst the renewable energy transition.
