Winder Power Expands Production to Support UK Electricity Network Resilience
Winder Power has announced the next phase of a multi-million-pound upgrade to its manufacturing facility in Leeds, significantly expanding its production and testing capabilities for high-voltage energy infrastructure.
The upgrade includes the launch of a new 132 kV grid transformer manufacturing line, with the first units scheduled to undergo testing in March 2026. In parallel, construction is progressing on a new high-voltage test centre, designed to support larger and more complex testing requirements as demand for resilient electricity networks continues to grow.
As part of the wider investment programme, Winder Power is also scaling up its power transformer manufacturing capacity and introducing efficiency improvements across the factory. A new vacuum oven installation is being implemented to reduce processing times and enhance insulation reliability, supporting a “right-first-time” manufacturing approach.
Beyond production upgrades, the company plans to refresh its office spaces to accommodate workforce growth and improve collaboration and customer engagement. Throughout 2026, Winder Power will also participate in major industry exhibitions to present its expanded capabilities.
The developments mark a significant milestone for the company and reflect continued investment in UK manufacturing at a time of increasing focus on energy security and grid resilience.
