Westrafo Opens U.S. Manufacturing Facility in Trotwood, Ohio
Westrafo America, the U.S. subsidiary of Italian power transformer manufacturer Westrafo, officially opened a new manufacturing facility in Trotwood, Ohio. The plant, located at 6214 Wolf Creek Pike, spans 233,000 square feet on a 17-acre site and focuses on medium-voltage transformers and integrated energy solutions.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony drew about 250 guests, including customers, suppliers, and local officials. Guided tours highlighted the production process and Westrafo America's capabilities in the renewable energy sector.
The facility represents an initial investment of $15 million and joins existing production sites in Vicenza, Italy, and Tema, Ghana. The Ohio plant is expected to create 230 jobs and reach an annual production capacity of 12 GW by 2027, supporting U.S. infrastructure modernization and renewable energy development.
Alberto Cracco, Westrafo CEO, emphasized the importance of innovation, sustainability, and proximity to U.S. customers. Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and JobsOhio President J.P. Nauseef highlighted the project's contribution to the state's energy sector and workforce.
The Trotwood facility strengthens Westrafo's presence in the U.S., offering faster, localized service while contributing to the nation's evolving energy grid.
