WEG to supply power transformer for EDF Renewables wind farm in Brazil

BRAZIL - WEG will supply a 300 MVA / 550 kV transformer for EDF Renewables' Serra do Seridó Wind Farm in Paraíba.


EDF Renewables, a unit of French utility EDF is building a 242 MW wind farm in the state of Paraíba.

The European company will invest around $75.9 million in the development of the Serra do Seridó wind farm in the towns of Junco de Seridó and Santa Luzia.

WEG will be one of the strategic partners in the development of the Serra do Seridó Wind Farm, and responsible for the supply of a 300 MVA / 550 kV transformer. The delivery is expected to be completed in early 2022.

Once completed and operational, the wind farm should supply enough energy for the annual consumption of around 700,000 Brazilian homes. With this supply, WEG continues its presence in the renewable energy market in Brazil, the company said in a press release.
