WEG to supply 241 transformers for new airport in Mexico

21 Dec 2020
MEXICO - WEG has been commissioned to supply 241 transformers for the International Airport Felipe Ángeles in the State of Mexico.

The shipment will include 49 dry-type transformers from 300 to 3,150 kVA, 168 pedestal transformers from 30 to 2,500 kVA, 21 dielectric varnish dry-type transformers from 30 to 300 kVA and 3 power transformers from 60 MVA - 230 kV.
The equipment will be part of the construction project for the General Felipe Ángeles International Airport, which aims to reduce the high saturation of the existing Mexico City International Airport (Benito Juárez International Airport).
Manufactured at the WEG Mexico plant, the transformers are designed for an operating altitude of 8,202 ft above sea level, the manufacturer said in a press release.
The project is expected to be partially operating by the first quarter of 2021, and when entirely
completed, about 20 million passengers per year will be travelling through the airport.
