Waaree Energies Expands Transformer Business in India with $20M Investment

Waaree Energies has approved an investment of ~$20.32 million (₹1.9 billion) to increase its stake in transformer solutions subsidiary Waaree Transpower to 75.1%. The company will acquire 25.3 million shares at an issue price of ~$0.802 (₹75) per share, with the transaction expected to be completed by June 2026.

Waaree Transpower, formerly Kotsons, designs, manufactures, and supplies oil-filled and dry-type transformers, including solutions for renewable energy and special-purpose applications. The company reported annual revenues of ~$1.76 million (₹164.5 million) in FY 2023 and ~$905,630 (₹84.7 million) in FY 2025. Waaree plans to expand transformer manufacturing capacity by 16,000 MVA, backed by a planned CAPEX of ~$20.99 million (₹1.92 billion), supported by an existing order book of ~$26.78 million (₹2.45 billion).

In parallel, Waaree Energies approved CAPEX of ~$417 million (₹39 billion) to establish a 2,500 TPD glass manufacturing plant for solar modules. The company is also investing in battery energy storage systems, inverters, renewable power infrastructure, and green hydrogen electrolyzers.

Earlier, in February 2026, Waaree announced a 16 GWh integrated lithium-ion battery manufacturing plant in Rambili, Anakapalli, Andhra Pradesh, with an investment of ~$901.26 million (₹81.75 billion), covering the full battery value chain. Additionally, Waaree invested $30 million in United Solar Holdings, a polysilicon producer in Oman, to strengthen its global supply chain. The group also plans a 4 GW inverter manufacturing facility by FY 2027, with CAPEX of ~$19.67 million (₹1.8 billion).
