Voltamp Energy Gains Majority Control of Saudi Transformer Venture
Voltamp Energy SAOG has increased its stake in the Saudi-based National Transformer Company, a joint venture with Al Sharif Group, from 49% to 80%, securing majority ownership and full management control. The change is being formalized through amendments to the Articles of Association and Commercial Registration.
The venture, branded Saudi Voltamp, is part of a $10 million plan to establish a high-voltage transformer manufacturing facility in Saudi Arabia’s Western Region near Jeddah. The project is being implemented in phases: the first phase focuses on producing 132 kV transformers at a 27,000-square-metre facility, with completion initially targeted for 2025. The second phase, planned for 2027, will expand the facility to 45,000 square metres and add 380 kV transformer capacity.
By raising its equity stake, Voltamp consolidates operational oversight and governance, allowing it to accelerate project execution and strengthen management accountability. The company said the move is expected to enhance customer confidence through improved reliability and control.
Saudi Arabia’s electricity market is among the fastest-growing in the region, driven by grid expansion, renewable energy integration, and large infrastructure projects aligned with Vision 2030. Voltamp’s increased ownership positions the company to pursue large-scale transformer supply contracts and respond to emerging opportunities in the Kingdom’s energy sector.
The development also reflects broader industrial ties between Oman and Saudi Arabia in the energy manufacturing segment and supports Voltamp’s regional expansion strategy.
