Virginia Transformer Supports Steel and Utility Projects with New Installations

10 Jul 2025
Virginia Transformer Corp. has completed two major transformer deliveries, supporting both industrial manufacturing and municipal power distribution on opposite ends of the U.S.

In Cleveland, Ohio, two 30/56 MVA, 138/11.47 kV transformers were installed at Charter Steel, a producer of special bar quality (SBQ) steel. The units will provide consistent, high-load power to the company's electric arc furnace melt shop--an operation that uses 90% recycled materials and plays a central role in domestic steel production.

Meanwhile, in Massachusetts, Virginia Transformer delivered two 45/75 MVA, 115/13.8 kV units to the Reading Municipal Light Department (RMLD). Serving over 70,000 residents across four towns, RMLD is the largest municipal utility in the state by electricity load. The new transformers, manufactured at Virginia Transformer's Rincon, Georgia facility, will strengthen system reliability and support future demand growth in the region.

With each project, Virginia Transformer reinforced its reputation for delivering dependable power equipment on competitive timelines. The company designs its transformers with an expected lifespan of 60 years--an investment in long-term performance and resilience.

Sales representatives Jim Schaut of TEPS and Sean Martin of HiReli led the respective projects.
