Virginia Transformer Delivers Spare Unit to WFEC for Grid Reliability

Virginia Transformer has successfully delivered a 7.5/10.5 MVA, 69/13.2 kV power distribution transformer to Western Farmers Electric Cooperative (WFEC) in Fort Towson, Oklahoma. The unit will serve as a strategic spare, providing vital redundancy and enhanced operational reliability for WFEC's power system.

As Oklahoma's largest locally owned power supply cooperative, WFEC supplies electricity to 21 member cooperatives, Altus Air Force Base, and other customers across the region. Founded in 1941, WFEC has been central to rural electrification efforts, ensuring dependable energy for agricultural and industrial development.

The spare transformer will ensure continuity in case of system failures or scheduled maintenance, strengthening WFEC's ability to deliver uninterrupted service.

Virginia Transformer's commitment to rural utility infrastructure is evident in its ability to deliver custom-engineered transformers with some of the shortest lead times in the industry. The unit was sold in partnership with Matt Tiffee of Oberlender, with design, manufacturing, and logistics executed to meet WFEC's performance and delivery needs.

This project reflects ongoing investment in grid resiliency and redundancy across rural transmission networks in the United States.
