Virginia Transformer has delivered a new power transformer to a substation operated by Lynches River Electric Cooperative in South Carolina, supporting ongoing efforts to strengthen regional electric infrastructure.

The transformer, rated at 15/28 MVA with a voltage of 67/24.94 kV, was manufactured at Virginia Transformer’s facility in Roanoke, Virginia. Designed for an estimated 60-year service life, the unit is intended to enhance long-term reliability and capacity for the cooperative’s electric system.

Lynches River Electric Cooperative, headquartered in Pageland, South Carolina, was founded in 1939 and provides electric service to more than 21,000 residential, commercial, and industrial consumers. Its service territory includes Chesterfield, Kershaw, and Lancaster counties. Electric cooperatives serve nearly one-third of South Carolina’s population, particularly in rural and underserved areas.

The project reflects continued investment in grid modernization and infrastructure resilience as utilities prepare for future demand growth and reliability requirements. Manufacturing and delivery were supported by Ensales, a manufacturers’ representative firm, with Adam Hart leading the sales effort.

The transformer delivery is part of broader efforts across the United States to upgrade aging electrical infrastructure and improve system performance for cooperative and utility customers.
