Virginia Transformer Delivers Multiple Power Transformers to Xcel Energy
Virginia Transformer has completed the delivery of multiple power distribution transformers to Xcel Energy in Colorado, supporting the utility’s efforts to enhance grid reliability and meet growing electricity demand.
The units, manufactured at Virginia Transformer’s Roanoke facility, range from 14 MVA to 28 MVA and are designed for a 60-year lifespan. The delivery underscores the company’s focus on long-term performance, quality, and timely project completion.
Xcel Energy, based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, serves roughly 3.9 million electricity customers and 2.2 million natural gas customers across eight U.S. states as of mid-2025. The utility has been investing in infrastructure upgrades to maintain reliable energy delivery amid increasing demand.
Cathy Hargitan of Mountain Power Reps, the manufacturer’s representative who led the sales, and the teams involved in the design, manufacturing, and delivery were recognized for their efforts.
This delivery adds to Virginia Transformer’s ongoing partnerships with utilities nationwide, highlighting its role in supporting the modernization of U.S. energy infrastructure.
