Ukraine’s Mykolaiv to Receive 24 Power Transformers Ahead of Winter
Mykolaiv is set to receive 24 power transformers valued at more than $671 000 (₴30.8 million) as part of preparations for the 2026–2027 heating season.
The transfer from state to municipal ownership was considered by the Mykolaiv City Council executive committee on August 12. The equipment is intended to support the stable operation of the city’s infrastructure during the winter period.
Tetiana Dmytrova, deputy head of the city council’s Department of Municipal Property, said the transformers have a combined value of ₴30.815 million.
A nine-member commission will oversee the transfer, prepare the relevant documentation and submit it to the executive committee for approval. Once the process is completed, the transformers will become the property of the Mykolaiv City Territorial Community.
The move follows the transfer of 27 transformers and other power equipment to communities across the Mykolaiv region earlier in August. The equipment was purchased using a grant from the Japanese government.
Mykolaiv is also preparing 15 combined heat and power plants with a total capacity of 27.5 MW, which are planned for installation in 2026.
