Ubicquia Raises $106M to Expand AI Transformer Monitoring Platform
Ubicquia Inc., a provider of intelligent infrastructure solutions, has raised $106 million in a Series D funding round to accelerate development of its AI-enabled transformer and grid monitoring platform and expand global direct sales. The round was led by 67 Capital and Marunouchi Innovation Partners Inc., with participation from existing investors including Hamilton Lane Inc., ClearSky Security, GMS Inc., and strategic partner Sercomm Corp.
Founded in 2014, Ubicquia embeds compact hardware modules directly onto distribution transformers, streetlights, and other grid-connected assets, enabling real-time monitoring and operational data collection without full infrastructure replacement. This approach allows utilities and cities to gain visibility into assets that were not originally designed for digital monitoring.
The platform combines edge devices, wireless communications, and cloud-based software to capture data on voltage, current, power quality, and environmental conditions at the transformer level. It supports remote configuration, firmware updates, and integration with utility and municipal management systems. Use cases include transformer-level grid monitoring, anomaly detection, outage management, streetlight control, and energy reporting.
Ubicquia serves over 1,000 customers, including electric utilities, city governments, and telecom providers. Notable clients include the San Diego Police Department, Digital Lighting Networks Inc., UScellular Corp., Orlando Utilities Commission, and Next Level Energy Services LLC.
The new funding brings Ubicquia’s total capital raised to approximately $232 million, positioning the company to expand globally and further establish itself as a leader in AI-driven transformer and distributed grid monitoring solutions.
