U.S. and Vietnam discuss power transmission opportunities

31 May 2019

HANOI, VIETNAM - The U.S. Embassy in Vietnam and the Vietnam Electricity National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) held a seminar in Hanoi to discuss opportunities in Vietnam's power transmission development, reports Nhan Dan.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Management Board of the state-owned company said EVNNPT has set the goal of becoming one of the top four power transmission utilities in ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations) by 2020, making top 10 in Asia by 2025, and meeting global standards by 2030.

EVNNPT is in charge of building and operating the nationwide 220 kV and 500 kV power transmission system, which currently has 15,660 miles of 500 kV and 220 kV lines, as well as 153 transformer stations with a total capacity of 91.256 MVA.

The U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam, Daniel Kritenbrink, said the seminar offered EVNNPT and U.S. companies a chance to discuss cooperation activities in the future, allowing EVNNPT to expand ties with U.S. financial organizations as well as suppliers of equipment, technology, and services in power transmission from the U.S.
