TWE’s massive transmission project gets green light in Utah

16 May 2019

MILLARD COUNTY, UTAH - Millard County commissioners have approved two conditional use permits for TransWest Express (TWE)'s $3 billion power transmission project that will link Wyoming and Nevada.

TWE is planning to start construction next year on a 730-mile HVDC power transmission project that will transmit renewable power from wind farms in Wyoming, crossing portions of Colorado and Utah, to a substation in Nevada, potentially delivering 3,000 MW of renewable energy to customers throughout the Southwest - which is the amount of electricity enough to power 1.8 million homes annually.

About 93 miles of new transmission line as well as a new electric converter station would be located in Millard County.

Wyoming regulators have already approved the project.

The next big milestone for the project will be obtaining a Notice to Proceed by federal authorities.
