TVA to invest $2.2b in transmission system over the next five years

7 May 2019

The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) said it will be investing $2.2 billion in transmission system improvements Valley-wide over the next five years in an effort to provide low cost, reliable power, reports Murray Ledger.

As part of these efforts, TVA is planning the construction of a new transmission line that would provide power for growing load and increase power reliability in the Kenlake area of Calloway and Marshall Counties, Kentucky.

The project would include building a proposed 8.7-mile transmission line which would supply power to a new substation operated by West Kentucky Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation (WKRECC), located south of the Kenlake State Resort Park in Calloway County.

TVA is expected to begin surveys in summer 2019 and start acquiring easements in summer 2020. Construction is scheduled to begin in winter 2020-2021 and be completed in summer 2021.
