Türkiye Plans $200 Billion Energy Investment Through 2035
Türkiye plans to invest approximately $200 billion by 2035 to expand renewable energy, develop nuclear power and modernize its electricity grid, according to the 2026 Energy Sector Report from the Presidential Investment and Finance Office.
Türkiye aims to increase its combined wind and solar capacity to 120 GW by 2035, requiring 8–9 GW of new capacity annually. Around $80 billion of the planned investment is expected to support grid modernization, transmission, distribution and system flexibility.
Renewables accounted for 62% of Türkiye’s installed electricity capacity in 2025, while renewable sources generated 43.4% of the country’s electricity.
Battery storage is also expanding, with pre-licensed projects totaling 14.3 GWh for solar and 19.7 GWh for wind as of early 2026.
Ahmet Burak Daglioglu, President of the Presidential Investment and Finance Office, said: “The rapid increase in renewable energy capacity, grid modernization, energy efficiency, storage, and the development of domestic production capacity offer significant opportunities for investors in Türkiye.”
The roadmap supports Türkiye’s broader goal of reaching net-zero emissions by 2053.
