12 Dec 2019

TURKEY - Turkish transmission system operator TEIAS signed an agreement with Akkuyu Nuclear, the operator of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant under construction in Turkey by the Russian corporation Rosatom, for the construction of the power transmission system for the plant.

The system will include six high voltage transmission lines that will transmit electricity from the Akkuyu NPP through 400 kV power lines to six transformer substations, reports NEI.

The total length of the high voltage lines to be built will exceed 621 miles (1,000 km).

The Akkuyu NPP will comprise four units and it is the world's first nuclear project being based on the Build-Own-Operate model.
