Trench Group Starts Dry-Type Transformer Bushing Assembly in Charlotte
Trench Group GmbH’s U.S. affiliate HSP US has started assembling dry-type transformer bushings at a new facility in Charlotte, North Carolina. The factory is the Group’s tenth production site worldwide and its first full-scale U.S. operation.
The $60 million facility is expected to create up to 140 engineering and manufacturing positions by 2030. Initial production began in February 2026, with full-scale operations scheduled for July 2026. The site will manufacture up to 3,500 bushings annually, capable of handling voltages up to 800 kV, using HSP’s established production standards.
Bahadir Basdere, President and CEO of Trench Group, noted that the facility is intended to meet growing energy demand in North America, including grid modernization and data center expansion.
A grand opening event for customers, partners, local officials, and employees is planned for summer 2026. The facility represents an addition to regional manufacturing capacity for high-voltage components.
