Transformer Transport Underway for Australian Wind Project

22 Apr 2025
A main grid transformer weighing nearly 180 tonnes is set to be delivered to the Wambo Wind Farm construction site in Queensland, Australia, on April 29, weather and transport approvals permitting.

The transformer will make the journey from the Port of Brisbane, traveling slowly via Dalby with the assistance of pilot vehicles and police escorts. Its route includes several rural roads leading to the construction site located southwest of Kingaroy.

This delivery marks a significant step forward in the development of the Wambo Wind Farm, which is being built in two stages. Once complete, the wind farm will consist of 83 turbines and generate over 500 MW of renewable energy.

The transformer will play a crucial role in connecting the wind farm to the electricity grid, facilitating the transmission of clean energy across the region.
