BELGIUM - Bladt Industries has successfully installed the power transformer on the offshore substation built for the 219 MW Northwester 2 offshore wind farm in Belgium.

According to Bladt Industries, three cranes were necessary for the installation of the 235 ton transformer on the substation topside that was transported to Bladt's premises in Aalborg from Mostostal Pomorze in Poland in mid-April, reports Offshore Wind.

The 219 MW Northwester 2 wind farm is located some 50 km north-west of Oostende in the Belgian North Sea.

The offshore construction is expected to start in June this year, with commissioning expected in 2020.
