HAMPTON ROADS, VIRGINIA -- Thousands of people are hit by a massive power outage in Virginia Beach Town Centre after a powerful thunderstorm ripped through the region Sunday night.

According to Dominion Energy, nearly 30,000 customers were without power in Virginia Beach during the height of the storm due to a transformer fire at its facility at the end of Market Street, reports WAVY.

Officials are expecting to completely restore power at Town Center on Monday and are still working to repair the damage of their major distribution grid.
