Toshiba wins transformer and GIS order in Iraq

KAWASAKI, JAPAN -- Toshiba Energy Systems & Solutions Corporation announced its wholly owned subsidiary Toshiba Transmission and Distribution Systems Gulf S.P.C. has finalized a contract with Toyota Tsusho Corporation for the supply of gas-insulated switchgears and power transformers to the Ministry of Electricity of the Republic of Iraq.



The project is based on the EPC contract signed between the joint venture of Toyota Tsusho and Egypt-based ELSEWEDY Electric, and the MoE of the Republic of Iraq.

This contract involves supply of 400 kV GIS, 132 kV GIS and 400 kV power transformers for a 400 kV substation to be constructed in Babil Province in central Iraq.

The 400 kV power transformers will be manufactured by Toshiba Transmission & Distribution Systems (India).

The delivery of the equipment is scheduled to begin in April 2021.
