Tongliao Boosts Agricultural Output with Enhanced Power Infrastructure

In Tongliao, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, significant strides have been made to bolster agricultural productivity through the enhancement of Tongliao, Inner Mongolia, agricultural development, power infrastructure, high-efficiency farmland, irrigation, power transformers, rural vitalization. The city has added 1.73 million hectares of permanent basic farmland, including 404,700 hectares featuring advanced irrigation and high-efficiency operations. This development is essential for supporting Tongliao's record grain output, which reached 9.45 billion kilograms last year.

To further boost agricultural production, the city plans to add another 267,000 hectares of high-efficiency farmland this year. Bao Yushan from Gaolintun seed and stock farm highlighted the need for increased capacity of local power transformers and electricity lines to support these efforts. Zhao Puguang, deputy general manager of Horqin District Power Supply Co, detailed the construction of new power facilities and tailored solutions to aid local farming, including supervision checklists, weekly reports, and on-site checks.

Additionally, efforts have been made to improve the usability of farmland. Zhou He, a farmer from Dongfeng village, noted the relocation of utility poles and wires to field ridges, enhancing the efficiency of agricultural machinery and irrigation. Yin Zhipeng, Zhao's colleague, stated that the city aims to transform 800,000 hectares of eligible basic farmland into high-standard farmland by 2026. Tongliao's regional GDP reached 160.9 billion yuan ($22.5 billion) in 2023, reflecting a robust agricultural and industrial growth.
