Alfstedt, GERMANY - The 15-year-old transformers from the old substation will be reused in the new substation.

TenneT TSO GmbH has announced that in the substation of Alfstedt, the first of two transformers has successfully moved.

According to TenneT, the 15-year-old transformers from the old substation will be reused in the new substation, which has been reinforced for the energy transition to be as resource-friendly and sustainable as possible.

According to the company, it took a total of 30 minutes to relocate the transformer, which weighs around 250 tons (560.000 pounds), until it stood 500 meters (0.31 mile) away in its new place. As with the deliveries, a heavy transporter was required for the transport. With around 32 axles, the transport vehicle has a total length of 74 meters (0.05 miles).
