Terna and NPC Ukrenergo Sign Memorandum to Advance Grid Cooperation
Terna, Italy's national electricity grid operator, and NPC Ukrenergo, Ukraine's transmission system operator, have signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote collaboration in electricity transmission system management.
The agreement was signed in Rome during the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2025 and aims to support Ukraine's integration into the pan-European power system. The partnership includes knowledge sharing in key areas such as energy security, technological innovation, grid digitalisation, and sustainability.
The MoU outlines cooperation in training, joint research, and the exchange of best practices in power system operations, including emergency response and system restoration--an area where Ukrenergo brings critical insight due to the war's impact on its grid.
Both Terna and NPC Ukrenergo are members of ENTSO-E, the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity, and the agreement is expected to further joint contributions to EU-wide grid development plans and regulation shaping.
Giuseppina Di Foggia, CEO of Terna, emphasised the importance of collaboration in fostering a more connected and resilient energy system across Europe. For Ukrenergo, this partnership strengthens ties with EU operators and contributes to long-term energy security.
