Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has taken a significant step towards improving electricity transmission in the Lagos area. On Monday, July 1, 2024, the Apapa 132/33kV Transmission Substation received two new 60MVA power transformers. This addition is part of TCN's ongoing efforts to boost power supply stability in the region.

According to Sule Abdulaziz, the managing director of TCN, these transformers will enhance the substation's capacity to manage increased load demand, ensuring more reliable and efficient electricity transmission for residential, commercial, and industrial users in Apapa and its environs. Abdulaziz emphasized the role of these new transformers in addressing power fluctuations and outages, which will lead to improved service delivery.

The transformers, along with their accessories, will undergo rigorous testing and installation procedures before becoming fully operational. TCN assures the public that all necessary measures are being taken to expedite this process, aiming to minimize any disruption to the power supply.

This initiative is part of broader efforts by TCN and the Federal Government to upgrade and expand the national grid, meeting the growing electricity demands and supporting economic development. TCN calls on residents and businesses in the affected areas to bear with any temporary inconveniences during the installation, as the ultimate goal is to provide a more reliable and efficient power supply.
