TARIL Wins $67M Contract to Supply Power Grid Corporation

3 Oct 2024
Transformers and Rectifiers (India) Limited (TARIL) announced today that it has won orders worth $67 million from Power Grid Corporation of India Limited. The order includes manufacturing transformers and reactors with specifications ranging from 80 MVAr to 500 MVA and voltage levels between 420kV and 765kV.

This contract will play a crucial role in supporting India's expanding power infrastructure. Scheduled for completion by the financial year 2025-26, the project positions TARIL as a leading supplier within the power industry.

Following the announcement, TARIL's stock price saw a 4% increase, driven by investor confidence in the company's growing order book. The stock surge comes ahead of TARIL's Q2 financial results, which will be announced on October 8, 2024.

While TARIL's order book has strengthened, there remains some concentration risk, with Power Grid Corporation accounting for 51% of its current orders. This reflects the broader industry reliance on large public-sector entities for power transmission investments. However, with more infrastructure projects from the Central Electricity Authority in the pipeline, this trend is likely to continue.

TARIL's expanding footprint in the power transformer industry and focus on high-quality production reinforce its competitive position in the growing power sector.
