TARIL Will Supply Generator Transformers for Kaiga Nuclear Units
Transformers and Rectifiers (India) Limited (TARIL) has secured an order to supply generator transformers for NPCIL’s Kaiga Units 5 & 6 project in Karnataka, marking the company’s entry into India’s nuclear power sector.
The order has been facilitated by Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Limited (MEIL) for the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) project.
Kaiga Units 5 & 6 comprise two indigenous 700 MWe Pressurised Heavy Water Reactors (PHWRs). The two units are expected to add a combined 1,400 MW of nuclear generating capacity once operational.
The generator transformers supplied by TARIL will form part of the electrical infrastructure required to transmit power generated by the nuclear units and connect it to the wider electricity grid.
Satyen Mamtora, Managing Director and CEO of TARIL, said the order marks the company’s entry into the nuclear sector and reflects its capabilities in supplying equipment for critical power infrastructure.
The Ahmedabad-based transformer manufacturer supplies power, distribution and specialty transformers for applications across power generation, transmission and renewable energy.
The order represents a strategic expansion for TARIL as India continues to develop its nuclear generation and broader electricity infrastructure.
