After two years of extensive consultation, SP Energy Networks (SPEN) have submitted their business plan outlining the critical role that the transmission system in central and southern Scotland will play in achieving Government's net zero carbon targets.

The business plan sets out investments worth $1.8 billion (£1.4 billion) to be delivered between 2021 and 2026.

The planned projects will connect an additional 900 MW of low carbon generation, enable further growth in renewables across Scotland creating enough renewable energy to power 1.5 million homes, ensure the reliability of the transmission network, and introduce new technologies to improve the efficiency, performance and environmental impact of the transmission network.
