South Korea’s Iljin Electric Expands U.S. Presence with $150M Transformer Order
Iljin Electric, a South Korea–based manufacturer of power equipment, has secured its largest-ever single supply contract in the United States, valued at approximately $150 million, according to a company press release issued on January 5, 2026.
The agreement covers the supply of 24 transformers for a new project led by a major U.S. renewable energy developer. Deliveries are scheduled to continue through the third quarter of 2029. The contract is valued at around 198 billion won and represents Iljin Electric’s largest order to date in the U.S. market.
The deal also marks the company’s first supply of 525-kilovolt extra-high-voltage (EHV) transformers for a renewable energy project. The U.S.-based contractor involved was not disclosed due to confidentiality agreements but is described as a large developer pursuing multiple renewable energy and energy storage projects nationwide.
According to Iljin Electric, the two companies have collaborated on renewable projects in the United States for approximately six years. The latest order reflects growing demand for high-capacity power equipment as renewable energy installations expand across North America.
The company said it plans to leverage the contract to strengthen its position in the North American extra-high-voltage power equipment market, with a focus on higher value-added products amid continued investment in grid expansion and clean energy infrastructure.
