GAUTENG, SOUTH AFRICA - Cargill Bioindustrial South Africa announced that its natural ester fluid production line in Isando, Gauteng is complete after South Africa's national electricity company Eskom approved the tender to replace mineral oil in transformers with biodegradable natural ester fluid.

Cargill will be the only local producer to own and manage the production of natural ester, replacing traditional petroleum-based mineral oil used for South Africa's electrical grid.

In collaboration with local oil manufacturers, the value chain will be managed from the supply of locally produced oil to the production of natural ester.
