Siemens Energy Invests $1B to Expand U.S. Transformer and Turbine Production
Siemens Energy has announced a $1 billion investment to expand its U.S. manufacturing capacity, aiming to meet growing demand for grid equipment, power transformers, and gas turbines. The expansion will create more than 1,500 highly skilled jobs across multiple states, including North Carolina, Alabama, New York, Texas, Florida, and Mississippi.
The investment includes both brownfield expansions at existing facilities and a new greenfield switchgear plant in Mississippi, designed to produce essential grid components and support workforce training. In North Carolina, Siemens Energy plans to increase production and servicing of large power transformers and restart gas turbine manufacturing in Charlotte, alongside additional component production and R&D in Raleigh. Florida facilities will expand production of turbine blades and vanes, upgrade research centers, and relocate the regional headquarters to Orlando’s Lake Nona community.
The initiative aims to accelerate the deployment of modern, resilient grid infrastructure and increase power generation capacity in the U.S., particularly amid rising electricity demand driven by data centers, artificial intelligence, and industrial electrification.
Christian Bruch, CEO and President of Siemens Energy, highlighted that current U.S. policies supporting energy security and domestic manufacturing have fueled the growth opportunity, while the company’s century-long history in the U.S. positions it to meet this surge in demand.
Overall, the investment underscores Siemens Energy’s commitment to supporting the U.S. energy system through advanced manufacturing, workforce development, and critical transformer and grid technology production.
