TRAWSFYNYDD, WALES, UK - National Grid has completed its first delivery of an electricity transformer by barge and beach last Wednesday, in collaboration with its delivery partner Mammoet, transformer manufacturer Siemens Energy, police and highways authorities.

In a first for National Grid, the 128.5-tonne transformer arrived at the Welsh public beach by a 87-yard barge.

It was delivered on a 34-yard long specialist vehicle and travelled at approximately 12 miles per hour.

The new transformer will ensure power continues to be delivered reliably to the local area.
